Careers at Micro Digital Engineering

Micro Digital Engineering develops, redesigns and troubleshoots power and control electronics in Bucharest, Romania. We are hiring a PCB assembly technician, a schematic design engineer and an embedded and software developer. Each role works on real client equipment, from requirements to a verified result.

Open positions

PCB Assembly Technician

Assembles, reworks and modifies prototype and small-batch printed circuit boards for development and replacement projects. Location: Bucharest, Romania.

Responsibilities

  • Hand soldering of SMD and through-hole components, including fine-pitch QFP, QFN and SOIC packages.
  • Assembly to bills of materials and assembly drawings; rework and modification of existing boards.
  • Visual inspection under a microscope and basic electrical checks: continuity, polarity, first power-up with a current-limited supply.
  • Assembly of cables, harnesses and test fixtures.
  • Recording of assembly steps, component substitutions and changes for each board revision.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in hand soldering of SMD components.
  • Ability to read schematics, bills of materials and assembly drawings.
  • Practical use of a soldering and hot-air station, microscope, multimeter and laboratory power supply.
  • ESD-safe working practice and careful, documented work.
  • Advantage: IPC-A-610 or IPC J-STD-001 training, BGA rework experience.

Schematic Design Engineer

Develops the circuit design of new devices and replacement boards, from requirements to a tested prototype. Location: Bucharest, Romania.

Responsibilities

  • Schematic design of analogue, digital and power circuits from written requirements.
  • Component selection with attention to availability, lifecycle status and replacement options.
  • Design calculations: power budget, thermal load, tolerances, protection.
  • Support of PCB layout with placement and routing constraints; participation in design reviews.
  • Prototype bring-up and debugging with an oscilloscope and other laboratory instruments.
  • Reconstruction of schematics from existing boards for redesign and replacement projects.
  • Design documentation: schematics, bills of materials, calculations and test reports.

Requirements

  • Degree in electronic engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • Several years of schematic design for products that reached prototype testing or production.
  • Practical work with an ECAD tool such as Altium Designer or KiCad.
  • Microcontroller-based designs, DC-DC and linear power supplies, interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, CAN, RS-485, USB and Ethernet.
  • Technical English for documentation.
  • Advantage: power electronics, EMC-aware design, industrial equipment.

Embedded and Software Developer (STM32, Python, Java)

Writes the firmware that runs on our boards and the software used to configure, test and service them. Location: Bucharest, Romania.

Responsibilities

  • Firmware for STM32 microcontrollers in C/C++: peripheral drivers, communication protocols, control and protection logic, bare-metal or with FreeRTOS.
  • Python tools for testing, data acquisition and automation of test benches.
  • Java desktop applications for configuration, diagnostics and data logging of devices connected over serial, USB or Ethernet.
  • Bring-up and debugging together with the hardware engineers.
  • Version control and documentation of firmware and software releases.

Requirements

  • Experience with STM32 development: STM32CubeIDE or CubeMX, HAL or LL libraries, debugging with ST-LINK or JTAG.
  • Good C programming skills for embedded systems.
  • Python for scripting, test automation and data processing.
  • Java for desktop or service applications.
  • Ability to read schematics and use an oscilloscope or logic analyser.
  • Git.
  • Advantage: Modbus, CAN, motor or power converter control, RTOS.

Apply with the subject [CAREERS] Embedded and Software Developer.

Engineering environment

The work covers new development, redesign of existing electronics and troubleshooting of equipment that has to operate in the field. Design, prototype assembly and measurement happen in the same team: engineers build and test what they design, and assembly technicians work directly with the engineers on each board revision.

What we expect from everyone

  • Work from written requirements and ask when they are unclear.
  • Check results by measurement and record what was tested.
  • Document work so that a colleague can continue it.
  • Keep client information confidential: client projects are carried out under NDA.

How to apply

Send an email to info@microdigitalcorp.com with the role in the subject line. Include a short introduction, the projects you worked on and what you did yourself, the tools you use in practice, and a CV or portfolio link.
